I am a private tutor based in CT and have been a professional tutor for over 20 years. I specialize in Math and Science curriculums, providing Math, Physics, Chemistry and Economics academic support to grade school students from K to 12. I am well versed in the International school and exam systems, but not limited to, American, Singapore, British, Australian and Canadian systems.
Starting my passion for teaching by offering Math and Physics support to my peers at an age of 17,
I eventually started my apprenticeship at a Effective R Us (a private academic tutoring sector), attaining my license to teach by the MOE (Ministry of Education of Singapore) and continued my teaching journey with them for the following 5 years, where I learned to help children hone critical thinking and analytical skills to manage their school curriculum and exam components.
Today, I gather a broader set of skills, personalising support sessions according to learners' types (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Reading/Writing), accompanied by reinforcing current concepts and customised practices. With years of experience preparing students for major exams such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE/ GCSE). I have a commendable track record of assisting >90% of my students improve from C grades to B/A grades thereby enhancing each student’s ability to apply to prestigious and accredited collegiate programs.
My students are motivated, confident and enthusiastic about their learning experiences. I strongly believe that building a unique rapport with each of them is a critical step towards equipping them with the right attitude to master academic content, develop critical thinking skills and an academic disposition that will inspire self-motivated learning and long-term success. I enjoy seeing my students recognise their passions and aspirations. At the end of the day, I aspire to see my students walk out of class smiling and eager to tell you about what they've learnt.
My years of experience also extend to students with learning challenges, such as, but not limited to, Dyslexia, ADHD and non-verbal learning difficulties. Students I have worked with have shown improvement in social, emotional literacy and/ or cognitive behaviors that lead to positive self worth & self actualisation of themselves which closes the gap between them and their peers.
Apart from academic support, I also customise fun vacation programs, where my students and I work on science experiments aiding applied learning, math puzzles which enhances critical thinking skills and challenging Math Olympiad programmes.
When I’m not tutoring grade school students, I also teach Ceroc to adults, a modern jive partner dance style. You can also find me enjoying sports, nature and art,, usually scaling a rock face, hiking up a trail or attending social dance events such as Argentine Tango or Salsa.
